Artificial Intelligence Use Cases in the Industry
Within the framework of the INDPULS+IA project, which is supported by the Department of Business and Labour of the Government of Catalonia (RETECH) and the EU’s Next Generation Funds, we have organized a series of sessions with each of the INDPULS partners with the goal of identifying AI use cases and prioritizing them based on different criteria.
The sessions were conducted in collaboration with Albert Esplugas, who has more than 20 years of experience leading AI strategy, Generative AI, and Innovation at companies such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Apple, together with our partner LTC Marlex.
The main criteria we are using to classify and prioritize AI use cases are:
• By impacted area: process automation, customer experience improvement, or efficiency enhancement.
• By strategic value, meaning how it impacts the company’s strategic priorities.
• By feasibility, whether technical, related to data availability and quality, or the expected degree of adoption.
These sessions have become a key component to ensure rigor, strategic alignment, and tangible results. They are enabling us to map high-value AI use cases for the Industry, as well as identify common challenges for which INDPULS can provide support in the search for solutions or technological scouting.
As of today, we have selected 9 common use cases, gathered under the umbrella of the program: AI Adoption Program: From Industrial Use Case to AI Pilot.
The AI Adoption Program, aimed at technology startups and SMEs, connects innovative companies with industrial partners to solve real-world challenges through Artificial Intelligence. During the program, the selected startups and SMEs will transform specific use cases into AI-powered pilots ready for implementation.
The program is currently in an open call phase for technology startups and SMEs until December 15, 2025, and targets companies capable of providing AI solutions that address the challenges defined by INDPULS partners.

The selected companies will collaborate directly with industrial teams to transform use cases into functional pilots, gaining access to specialized mentoring, visibility, and validation in operational environments. This stage strengthens the connection between technology and industry and reinforces the INDPULS innovation ecosystem.
