However,&nbsp;<strong>what happens when innovative efforts fail to bear fruit?<\/strong>&nbsp;Last Friday, April 12th,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/indpuls.tech\/es\/2024\/04\/18\/innovation-center-telefonica-wayra-corporate-venture-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">we visited the&nbsp;<strong>Telef\u00f3nica Tower in Barcelona<\/strong>&nbsp;to learn about its&nbsp;<strong>Corporate Innovation Center and Wayra<\/strong>, its Corporate Venture<\/a>. Throughout the day,&nbsp;<strong>Xavier Marcet<\/strong>, president of&nbsp;<strong>Lead to Change<\/strong>, invited us to pause and reflect on this paradox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-3-font-size\" style=\"margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-30)\">The Dilemma of Innovation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In his seminal work \u201cThe Innovator\u2019s Dilemma,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>Clayton Christensen<\/strong>&nbsp;reminds us that&nbsp;<strong>innovation doesn\u2019t always equate to disruption<\/strong>. Marcet takes us beyond this concept, exploring the various facets of innovation: from operational efficiency to the radical transformation of markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Innovation is not a linear or predictable process<\/strong>; it manifests in various forms, from improving existing products to creating new markets. However, it has often been focused on imitating Silicon Valley rather than embracing a unique identity. The dynamic between exploiting the existing and exploring the new is complex;<strong>&nbsp;it requires long-term vision, constant communication, and a culture of strong leadership solidarity.<\/strong>&nbsp;Even when the requirements for transferring exploration to exploitation are met, this process is more of an exception than the rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"omt-qoute wp-block-omt-qoute\"\t>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"omt-qoute__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"omt-qoute__deatils-block\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tInnovation is not a linear or predictable process; it manifests in different forms, ranging from improving existing products to creating new markets.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-3-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-50);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-30)\">Reimagining Innovation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, innovation used to ignore external considerations, but now reflections on&nbsp;<strong>environmental and social sustainability<\/strong>&nbsp;are emerging. Marcet challenges us to rethink some premises about innovation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-50);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-50)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We often&nbsp;<strong>equate innovation with technology<\/strong>, yet it\u2019s important to incorporate empathy into this equation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>future<\/strong>&nbsp;isn\u2019t coming as fast as we may think.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Imitation and improvement<\/strong>, common practices in the business world, are often underestimated.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Growth doesn\u2019t always have to be exponential.<\/strong>&nbsp;It takes time and process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Startups<\/strong>&nbsp;are not the sole engine of the economy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"omt-qoute wp-block-omt-qoute\"\t>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"omt-qoute__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"omt-qoute__deatils-block\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhile startups are fascinating, they won\u2019t necessarily overshadow large companies, and growth doesn\u2019t always have to be exponential.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-h-3-font-size\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-50);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-30)\">Innovation without disruption<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Marcet urges us to consider a new form of innovation:&nbsp;<strong>non-disruptive creation<\/strong>, which aims to expand the \u2018pie\u2019 rather than completely reinventing it, offering us several propositions to reflect upon:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"margin-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-50);margin-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--space-50)\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Innovation is essential for creating future&nbsp;<strong>competitiveness<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovation requires a&nbsp;<strong>medium-term perspective.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovation is&nbsp;<strong>risky<\/strong>, but the greatest risk is not innovating.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Europe<\/strong>&nbsp;needs to develop its innovation models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitoring of innovation must be&nbsp;<strong>accounted for and measured<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Innovation must be compatible with&nbsp;<strong>environmental and social sustainability.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div\n\tclass=\"omt-qoute wp-block-omt-qoute\"\t>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"omt-qoute__wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"omt-qoute__deatils-block\">\n\t\t\t\t<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn a constantly changing world, it\u2019s important to rethink our approaches, reclaim other logics, and embrace a more conscious and sustainable innovation.\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":4910,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[107],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1612","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-management-en"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
