On October 7<\/strong>, during the INDPULS<\/strong> innovation event in Madrid<\/strong>, we had the opportunity to visit La Cabina<\/strong>, Telef\u00f3nica’s hub of technological inspiration, where we were welcomed by Mar\u00eda Eugenia Borbor\u00e9<\/strong>, the company\u2019s Industry Manager<\/strong>. During her talk, she highlighted Telef\u00f3nica\u2019s commitment to technological innovation<\/strong> throughout its more than 100 years<\/strong> of history and how the company has managed to lead the sector by sharing processes and technology with its clients. Today, IT services<\/strong> generate more business than traditional telecommunications services, reflecting the industry\u2019s shift toward applied technological solutions, such as the recent acquisition of Geprom<\/strong>. Mar\u00eda Eugenia emphasized the need for technology that not only enables but also applies and transforms processes, ensuring collaboration with the world\u2019s top industry leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industrial Cybersecurity: Telef\u00f3nica Tech’s Value Proposition<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, Vicente Segura<\/strong>, Product Manager of Cybersecurity<\/strong> at Telef\u00f3nica Tech<\/strong>, shared his insights on the current state of the industry<\/strong> and the digital environment<\/strong>. In the era of artificial intelligence<\/strong>, the energy consumption<\/strong> associated with a simple search can be significantly higher compared to traditional searches. Despite the growing importance of the industrial sector<\/strong>, and especially the energy sector<\/strong>, investment in its development remains insufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, two schools of thought emerge: the Neo-Malthusians<\/strong>, who advocate for solutions to resource scarcity, and the Techno-Optimists<\/strong>, who argue that resources are abundant if new sources are explored. Against this backdrop, the future of the industry<\/strong> is moving toward cyber-physical systems<\/strong> with digital brains<\/strong> capable of operating autonomously, powered by advanced connectivity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the reality is that these systems face serious cybersecurity challenges<\/strong>, as many operate with outdated software and lack security updates<\/strong>. This vulnerability leaves the most critical sectors<\/strong> exposed, such as manufacturing<\/strong>, which has been the most targeted with 26%<\/strong> of global cyber incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
