Elements for a self-assessment of innovation

On July 18th, the partners of Indpuls gathered at Vallformosa’s facilities to reflect on the level of innovation maturity in our companies, led by Xavier Marcet, using the Self-Assessment Elements of Innovation guide developed by Lead to Change.

Through 18 elements, this guide allows us to measure fundamental aspects such as the impact of innovation on the profit and loss statement, corporate culture, talent, project conversion rate, innovation model governance, risk-taking capability, among others.

“Today, innovation is risky, but even riskier is doing nothing.” – Xavier Marcet

The guide has been very well received among INDPULS partners as a tool to assist management and innovation teams in taking stock and identifying areas for improvement.

Presentation and visit to Vallformosa

Marta Vidal, CEO of Vallformosa, introduced us to the company, which has more than 150 years of history. Vallformosa has successfully harmonized tradition, innovation, sustainability, and differentiation. The company produces wines and sparkling wines, with three sparkling wine brands – Vallformosa, Mistinguett, and Gran Barón – two wine brands – Cultivare and Freyé – and I’mperfect, wine in a can. Moreover, all of them are suitable for vegans.

One of the most notable aspects is that the company does not have its own estate or vineyard, but rather relies on a community of 400 wine-growing families who cultivate the vines meticulously throughout the year with the support of the technical team that ensures that the best quality fruits are obtained.

Vallformosa has been awarded numerous prizes, such as best winery at the Vinari Awards for three consecutive years (2020, 2021 and 2022) and best sparkling wine producer according to the Berliner Wine Trophy 2022.

Jana Vives, Innovation Director at Vallformosa, presented the innovation model and the projects they are developing, both in terms of new innovative products and improvements in efficiency and environmental impact. Finally, we were able to take a complete tour of the facilities guided by Lluis Canyadell, Director of Operations, and Jana Vives and Esteve Nadal, from Innovation.

At the end of the visit, we toasted with a delicious cava brut rosé from Vallformosa, wishing all INDPULS members a happy holiday.
